Merida is the capital city of Yucatan state, a colonial city founded in 1542 on the ruins of the ancient Maya city of T'ho.

It is a typical colonial city with imposing colonial buildings, street layouts perfect and symmetrical.

Merida is also known as "White City" by colonial buildings made of limestone. Merida's climate is very tropical and remains almost constant throughout the year.
